The organizers are setting up exactly 814 official stalls throughout the city for this year’s Advent season. Starting in November, a noticeably fresher breeze will be blowing through many squares, as stricter environmental guidelines are forcing food vendors to serve significantly more seasonal and certified organic fare in your mugs.
Christmas Market at Rathausplatz

The 4,000-square-meter ice-skating rink and the brightly lit “Herzerlbaum” are clearly the main attractions here. From November 13 to December 26, 2026, you can shop here daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. right in front of the imposing neo-Gothic facade.
Anyone who still needs to wrap a last-minute gift on Christmas Eve can visit the strictly certified organic food stands and craft stalls until 6:30 p.m. In addition to the classic carousel, families can also enjoy the ice rink at the Christmas market through January 6, 2027.
Old Viennese Christmas Market on Freyung

Those looking for something a bit more refined off the Ringstrasse will find plenty of tradition on offer between November 14 and December 23, 2026. Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the 57 stalls focus on fine handicrafts made of wood, glass, and ceramics.
The 46-meter-long painted Christmas nativity scene, which completely shields the area from the street, is truly amazing. While you warm up with a mug of Old Viennese punch, you can pick up some hearty mountain cheese for dinner right across the street at the small farmers’ market.

Maria-Theresien-Platz Christmas Village

Surrounded by the two imposing federal museums, exactly 44 wooden huts will be set up in the square from November 20 through December 26, 2026. The stalls are open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while on Friday and Saturday you’ll even have time for a round of mulled wine until 10:00 p.m.
Here, traditional brass bands and gospel choirs take turns performing, filling the area around the large monument with music. The backdrop offers a great photo opportunity if you just want to take a quick break with a hot drink after a visit to the Kunsthistorisches Museum.
Am Hof Christmas Market

Just a stone’s throw from Freyung, the historic Am Hof square comes alive from November 13 through December 23, 2026. At a total of 76 stalls, you can buy handmade goods, while food and drink vendors serve from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays.
On weekends, the market opens as early as 10:00 a.m. and offers Swiss stone pine punch and hearty delicacies. The atmosphere between the old fire station and the Gothic church particularly attracts Viennese locals who want to sit together and relax after work.
Christmas Market at Stephansplatz

Right in the heart of the city, 44 stalls surrounding the cathedral will open for business as early as November 6, 2026. Through December 24, you can shop here daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for high-quality wood carvings and local delicacies.
The location benefits immensely from its close proximity to Kärntner Straße, which makes the market packed but very lively. Grab a bag of roasted chestnuts and enjoy the clear view of the cathedral’s brightly lit giant roof before moving on.
K&K Christmas Market at Belvedere Palace

Between November 20 and December 31, 2026, you can enjoy your punch in front of the Baroque façade of the Upper Belvedere. On weekdays, the 38 stands open at 11:00 a.m.; on weekends, they open as early as 10:00 a.m.
The walkways around the water feature are extremely spacious, so you won’t get stuck in a dense crowd even during peak hours. The vendors focus primarily on high-quality jewelry, leather goods, and pleasant, soft background music.
Art Advent Market in front of St. Charles’ Church (ART ADVENT)

Starting November 13, 2026, and through December 23, Resselpark will transform into Vienna’s most sustainable hotspot. Daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the 83 booths will feature food with full organic certification and handicrafts rigorously vetted by a panel of experts.
In the middle of the square is a huge straw landscape where children can romp around in the hay while you watch and sip a genuine Schilcher mulled wine. In addition, the evening fire show regularly provides plenty of warmth right in front of the illuminated Karlskirche.
Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market

Right in the courtyard of the Habsburg Residence, around 80 stalls await your visit this year. This market opens especially early on November 6, 2026, and will serve you hot punch continuously through January 6, 2027.
From 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., you can stroll here against a truly imperial backdrop and grab some tasty baked potatoes or hot chestnuts. Really awesome: If you want to check out the view from above, head up to the freely accessible panoramic terrace and the Sternensalon starting at 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.
