Since its legendary world premiere in 1997 at the Raimund Theater, the musical adaptation of Roman Polanski’s classic film has enjoyed global success. According to the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW), the production continues to captivate audiences to this day, having drawn around 11 million visitors across 15 countries and in 13 languages.
Following the acclaimed runs in 2009 and 2017, the VBW is now bringing the show to a Viennese stage for the fourth time. During our conversation with Viennese musical theater fans, it quickly becomes clear: Anticipation for the return of the bloodsuckers to the 1st District is enormous.

For fall 2027, the VBW promises a completely revamped new production. The show is set to be even more mystical, darker, and eerier than in previous versions.
The grand gala premiere will take place on September 24, 2027, at the historic Ronacher Theater. The show will be sung in German, with English surtitles available for international audiences. The show is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Who will take the director’s chair or star in the lead roles remains a secret for now. The VBW will announce the final cast and creative team in the spring of 2027.

Advance ticket sales for 2027 have begun
Although there’s still some time until the curtain rises on opening night, ticket sales are already in full swing. Anyone who wants to secure good seats for the coveted weekend dates or the first performances shouldn’t wait too long.
Tickets for the performances at the Ronacher are now available through official advance sales starting at €55 per ticket.
