Hiking, Tasting, and Celebrating at the Apple Blossom Festival

This year, the atmosphere in Puch near Weiz is particularly festive, as the Styrian Apple Route celebrates its 40th anniversary. The festivities kick off at 9:00 a.m. with the legendary blossom hike. You’ll take a leisurely stroll through the orchards, where the first regional delicacies await you at various refreshment stations.
Starting at 10:00 a.m., the official festival program begins at the Hochgartl in the town center. You can look forward to a day of culinary delights, where the apple farmers of Puch show off their skills. From fresh cider to fine brandies, everything is on offer. What you need to know for your trip

The drive from Vienna takes about 90 minutes via the A2 (Gleisdorf West exit). Admission to the festival grounds costs a fair €5.00, though all children under 16 and—here’s a little insider tip—anyone born in 1986 (fitting for the 40th anniversary) get in completely free.
Pack sturdy shoes for the hike so you don’t slip among the trees. If you want to relax a bit after the tour, find a spot with a view of the Kulm, arguably the most beautiful scenic mountain in the area.
