For over 110 years, this traditional restaurant behind St. Stephen’s Cathedral has been drawing schnitzel lovers. The restaurant is known for its paper-thin schnitzels, which extend well beyond the edge of the plate. The meat is fried in the finest vegetable oil, which makes the breading especially crispy. The famous Figlmüller pork schnitzel costs around 22 euros (salad extra). A traditional Viennese veal schnitzel is currently not on the menu. The restaurant has a classic and traditional Viennese look.
Schnitzelwirt
Right in the heart of the 7th district is another true institution that has been known for decades for its huge portions. The atmosphere is wonderfully rustic, and the tables are regularly packed. The schnitzels are large and thin, just the way the Viennese love them.

This authentic Floridsdorf establishment is cherished by locals for its uncompromising home-style cooking. This iconic Beisl in Brigittenau offers what is arguably the most authentic glimpse into Viennese pub culture. The decor has remained wonderfully rustic, and the staff charms with genuine Viennese wit. The food is prepared according to old family recipes, with portions that are extremely generous and prices that are sensationally affordable. Here you can enjoy the classic pork schnitzel with potato salad, along with dozens of other hearty and traditional dishes from Austrian cuisine.
Leopoldauer Alm
If you’re really hungry, this well-known XXL restaurant is the perfect spot for you. The restaurant is fully decorated in a cozy alpine hut style and is famous for its gigantic meat platters. The portions are so large that you almost always have to ask to have the leftovers packed up in a bag to take home. The massive veal Wiener schnitzel (300 grams) costs around 37 euros, including a side dish. A huge pork schnitzel made from the loin costs around 22.90 euros.
