Our tips for a day trip or weekend getaway!
Morning: Take the Railjet or Westbahn from Vienna Central Station to Linz, then enjoy coffee and Linzer Torte in the Old Town. (After all, this classic cake bears the city’s name.)
Afternoon: A stroll along the Danube, then on to the Ars Electronica Center, whose facade itself becomes a light screen after dark. There’s hardly a better way to get in the mood for the evening.
Evening: Show at the cathedral, followed by a relaxed return to Vienna. Tip: Check the last connection in advance.
If you prefer a more leisurely pace, stay overnight in Linz: a light show on Saturday evening, followed by a ride on the Pöstlingbergbahn up to the lookout point on Sunday, then brunch and a visit to the Lentos Art Museum. A perfect mini-vacation!
