Autumn has begun and we are swapping sandals for boots, sunglasses for scarves, ice cream for chestnuts, Aperol for storm and watermelon for pumpkin. And you’ll find plenty of pumpkin in Vienna! If spooning up pumpkin soup and sipping pumpkin spice lattes isn’t enough for you, visit a pumpkin festival. We’ll tell you which events are taking place in October.
Vienna Autumn Days
Fruit, plants, culinary delights – the Vienna Autumn Days are dedicated entirely to the fruits of the golden season. The pumpkin is not the sole superstar here, but shares the stage with other autumnal foods such as apples, plums and figs. Taste your way through the culinary offerings, learn more about local and exotic fruit and admire the arts and crafts on display.
The Vienna Autumn Days are taking place for the ninth time this year and impress with their variety of exhibitors who specialize in all kinds of products, such as seeds, poppies, exotic plants or jewelry made from real flowers. Come along and be inspired by the colorful program, enjoy the delicious products and buy your first Christmas presents.

Pumpkin festival at the Sperling
The Sperling restaurant in Augarten is celebrating its pumpkin festival for the fourth time this year. Look forward to all kinds of culinary delights based on the autumnal vegetable. If you can’t get enough pumpkin, reserve a place for the Pumpkin Fine Dining in the evening. In a three-course menu, you will be served special pumpkin specialties that will offer you a whole new taste experience.
There will also be a great program for children , with pumpkin carving, face painting and even a bouncy castle! At 3 pm, the keg will be tapped and there will be free beer for everyone. Last but not least, you can try your luck at the raffle, where the main prize is a dinner for four at the Sperling.

Pumpkin festival in the sky
Restaurant Am Himmel is once again hosting its pumpkin festival this year, where the whole family can get their money’s worth. The Styrian pumpkin farmers are organizing the pumpkin market, where you can sample all kinds of delicacies. You will find over 200 pumpkin varieties here, which you can use to make your own creations and carve pumpkin lanterns. The pumpkin festival also offers many other products, such as oils, hams and wines.
If you don’t feel like eating but still want to store, you can buy handicrafts instead. If you want to get creative, take part in kite-making and fly them straight away. If you need some exercise, take a walk through the biosphere park in the Vienna Woods. The Pumpkin Festival Am Himmel offers just the right thing for everyone, for some autumnal fun!
