You sit at the table, tap a screen, place your order, and shortly thereafter, your food races toward you on a steel track through loops. What at first glance seems like a science fiction scenario is actually everyday life in the heart of Vienna. This Rollercoaster Restaurant in Vienna relies on gravity instead of traditional service. Orders whiz through the room via a winding network of tracks, reaching top speeds of nearly 30 km/h. After a thrilling ride, dinner lands right at your table.
Order via tablet, delivered via loop

At the Rollercoaster Restaurant on Riesenradplatz, you have full control over the process. You select your dishes directly via tablets built into the tables, without having to wait for a server.

On the digital menu, you’ll find everything from grilled burgers to fluffy curd dumplings. Up in the kitchen, the dishes are freshly prepared and then packed into specially secured transport carts. After that, the pots and bottles plunge into the depths, navigating tight curves and loops until they come to a stop right at your table station.
To ensure nothing goes wrong during the rapid descents, all your food is served in small, tightly sealed metal pots. The digital menu primarily features international classics such as hearty burgers, breaded schnitzel, fresh pasta, and colorful salads. Especially convenient: Using the tablet, you can flexibly customize your meal yourself and, for example, choose exactly the ingredients for your burger that you like best.
Robot bartenders and light shows

In addition to the flying food, there’s even more technology to see at this famous Prater restaurant. At the bar, two massive industrial robots mix your drinks and place the glasses with pinpoint accuracy. Between orders, the two machines also perform choreographed movements in sync with regular light and music shows.
Financially, the outing is very reasonable: main courses cost around 15 to 20 euros, while cocktails are available for just under 10 euros. Since it gets very busy, we strongly recommend booking online in advance to avoid waiting times at the entrance.
