What is The Jazz Room?
Jazz emerged at the beginning of the 20th century at the cultural crossroads of New Orleans. African-American musicians there fused African rhythmic traditions with European harmonies and Caribbean influences to create a revolutionary new musical form. From precursors such as blues and ragtime, an unmistakable style developed that is characterized by syncopated rhythms, individual expressiveness and the art of improvisation.
The Jazz Room in Vienna invites the audience on an intimate 60-minute journey into the heart of American jazz culture and takes you into the atmosphere of a street bar from the 1920s in New Orleans.
