The production is designed to appeal to opera fans and newcomers alike . You can look forward to spectacular dance numbers, a powerful choir, and unforgettable melodies that have made this piece a crowd-pleaser worldwide.
At the heart of the plot is a brutal war between Egypt and Ethiopia. After being taken captive, the Ethiopian princess Aida lives unrecognized as a slave at the Egyptian court. She serves the powerful pharaoh’s daughter Amneris, and both women love the same man: the Egyptian general Radamès.
When Radamès goes to war, he captures none other than Aida’s father (the Ethiopian King Amonasro). This plunges Aida into a dramatic moral dilemma between her love for Radamès and her loyalty to her homeland.
