What do Viennese women want? What is their current situation in the city and how do they envision their future? Four years ago, 15,500 Viennese women answered precisely these questions. The result is the grand Vienna Women’s Week, which is being held for the third time this year.
Under the motto “Vienna, as she wants it,” around 200 free events for women will take place in the music metropolis. “We in Vienna stand up for the equality of women and girls every day,” says Deputy Mayor and City Councilor for Women’s Issues Kathrin Gaál, explaining the idea behind the campaign. Vienna Women’s Week aims to make this commitment visible.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8, all interest groups and age groups will come together in Vienna for a week. From March 2 to 8, Vienna Women’s Week offers a potpourri of topics and courses ranging from women’s health to jewelry workshops to starting a business. You can register for the events of your choice since February 18.
More time, more opportunities: workshops and lectures

The diverse program offers numerous training and discussion sessions throughout the city. This year’s main focus is on economics and financial education. This includes the workshop “Financial Literacy – Self-determined Use of Money” by the Chamber of Commerce, which explains how to manage finances in a healthy way .
“My Money. My Future” and “Financial Competence for Young Women” also deal with money management and financial independence. But there are also many other exciting courses and lectures on topics such as AI, postpartum depression, and crowdfunding. You can get creative yourself in the writing workshop and jewelry workshop.
More space: hands-on activities and exhibitions

If you feel the urge to move after all the courses and workshops, you can take part in one of the themed city walks, for example. Follow in the footsteps of women in Vienna, through the herb women’s garden, or on a neighborhood tour of fair planning. Explore feminist literature and have your picture taken at the Vienna Relief Organization. Who knows, maybe you’ll become part of the “City of Great Daughters” exhibition someday.
Join the FLINTA* table tennis training and learn to defend yourself. At the end of the day, you can admire the illuminated bridges of the Danube Canal. Every evening during Vienna Women’s Week, the Salztorbrücke, Marienbrücke, Schwedenbrücke, Roßauer Brücke, and the passageway at Praterstern are illuminated in purple, symbolizing the visibility of women.
Open City Hall for Vienna Women’s Week

At the end of Vienna Women’s Week, City Hall will open its doors on March 7 at 3 p.m. and, in addition to numerous information stands, there will be a large supporting program. Admission is free and there will be guided tours, concerts, film screenings, and self-defense workshops. In keeping with the spirit of this year’s ESC in Vienna, you can show off your singing skills at karaoke.
The final highlight is a party by women for women: starting at 7 p.m. in the Volkshalle in Vienna City Hall, everyone can celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 together. The entire program for the third Vienna Women’s Week can be found here. Advance registration is required for some events.
