Through November 1, Schlaining Castle (Thurs. through Sun.)transforms into a spectacular Halloween world. Hundreds of light sculptures, magical laser projections, and costumed witches, skeletons, and ghosts roam and haunt the castle’s ancient walls.
During the fall break (Oct. 26 – Nov. 1), you’ll even have the chance to experience the Halloween event from Monday through Sunday. Grab your friends and family and enjoy the ultimate castle adventure together!
Here’s what awaits you on Halloween at Schlaining Castle
Once you arrive in idyllic Stadtschlaining (about an hour and a half by car from Vienna), you’ll first cross a long bridge over the moat and then pass through the impressive entrance gate of the old Schlaining Castle. Right here, you’ll encounter the first glowing creatures and eerie figures.
Once inside the castle, there are exciting things to discover everywhere: Hundreds of lights and kilometers of string lights transform the old fortress walls into a wonderfully mysterious setting. Here you’ll find regional handicrafts and delicious Halloween snacks at the market stalls!
Outside, kids can let off steam in the miniature straw castle and explore the mysterious nooks and crannies of the big castle. Spooky walking acts (i.e., costumed actors who, for example, stroll through the crowd on stilts and provide entertainment) ensure extra “wow” moments and surprises.
Inside the castle , a neon wonderland, an immersive movie theater, a spooky hands-on workshop, and many more eerily beautiful surprises await the kids. Tip: Don’t miss the climb up the castle tower!
