Temperatures are dropping, but November brings back one of the city’s most exciting festivals. From November 6 to 13, 2026, the 22nd Vienna Art Week invites you to over 100 art events in Vienna. The best part: All events offer completely free admission.
We took a look at the program in advance and found that the central theme couldn’t be more timely. Under the motto “Navigating Angst,” artists are intensively exploring the pervasive underlying sentiment of our time.
The Headquarters in the 15th District

The hub of the festival is the festival headquarters in the 15th district. Here you’ll find the major main exhibition “House of Navigating Angst.” More than 30 international artists are showcasing their latest works there.
This isn’t about scaremongering, but rather about the question of how to make difficult emotions visible. Especially in politically turbulent times, this is a constructive approach to better cope with the complexity of everyday life.

A Look Behind the Scenes

In addition to the major exhibition, there’s a highlight for anyone who wants to see the creative process up close. During the “Open Studio Days,” 50 selected Viennese artists will open the doors to their private studios. So you can stop by right where the works are created and strike up a conversation with the artists. In addition, there are themed guided tours through the city center, during which guides like Simon Nagy will lead you directly to selected artistic stops.
Discussions That Strike a Nerve

Those who want to do more than just look—but also listen—will find a packed accompanying program. The panel discussions, featuring guests such as MQ Director Bettina Leidl, will address topics including the protection of art in times of war. In this way, Vienna Art Week delves deeply into social debates and proves that art can help us navigate through turbulent times.
