As the days grow noticeably shorter in the fall, one of Vienna’s most historic sites transforms into an atmospheric walking trail. Starting Friday, October 23, 2026, the open-air event “Klanglicht im Park” (Sound and Light in the Park) will take place in the sprawling Schwarzenberg Garden in Vienna’s 3rd district. After dark, the private park opens its gates to an evening audience.
Light and Sound Art in the Historic Park

As soon as twilight sets in, precisely arranged light installations illuminate the paths around the Palais Schwarzenberg. At the same time, ethereal sound compositions emanate directly from the crowns of the ancient giant trees, perfectly synchronized with the visual scenery. This creates a contemplative stroll right next to Prinz-Eugen-Straße, allowing visitors to forget the hustle and bustle of the big city.
The historic grounds provide a remarkable setting for this event, as the garden is otherwise only accessible on select occasions. Meanwhile, precisely aimed spotlights highlight the Baroque architecture, the stone sculptures, and sweeping views across several hectares of parkland.

An evening stroll through the cooler months

The visit is ideal for a relaxed evening stroll for two or a walk with friends and family. For the full loop, you should plan on 45 to 60 minutes of walking time to explore all the outdoor sound stations at your leisure.
Since the open-air event is scheduled to run through January 2027, the project spans the entire transition from fall to winter. We recommend that you wear sturdy shoes and warm clothing, as the paved path runs entirely outdoors.
Tickets and Travel Information

Tickets for the evening program are available in advance starting at €14.90. Because the number of visitors per time slot is limited, you should reserve your specific admission slots well in advance of the weekend event directly through the official online ticketing system.
From the central Schwarzenbergplatz, you can reach the entrance gate in just under five minutes on foot. If you’re traveling by public transit, it’s best to take tram lines D, 2, or 71 and get off directly at the Schwarzenbergplatz stop.
