This Friday, September 18, and Saturday, September 19, Vienna will become the epicenter of the tennis world. The ÖTV team will face Belgium in the decisive second round of the Davis Cup Qualifiers. At stake is the coveted ticket to the “Final 8” in Bologna! And the setting for this tennis showdown is as cool as it gets.
But be warned: Anticipation for the Davis Cup’s return to the capital is huge—so tickets will sell out fast. If you’d like to experience the spectacle live, you’d better act fast. You can get the last remaining tickets here!
The Davis Cup is finally coming back to Vienna: absolute top stars and world-class tennis!

Austria’s historical record against Belgium is indeed flawless: five matches, five wins. But this time, we’re facing a huge athletic challenge: It’s still unclear which players Belgium, under captain Steve Darcis, will bring to Vienna. One thing is clear, though: The Belgians have plenty of talent and could arrive with some absolute top-tier players. Players like Zizou Bergs and Alexander Blockx (both currently in the top 40 of the world rankings) are among the big names the red-white-red team will need to keep a close eye on.
Who will actually be on the court for our team will also be decided just before the event…
…but ÖTV captain Jürgen Melzer certainly isn’t short on top-tier options!

Leading the potential lineup is Sebastian Ofner, our current No. 1 in Austria. The team could be rounded out by strong players like Filip Misolic, Jurij Rodionov, Joel Schwärzler, or Lukas Neumayer. A real ace up our sleeve is our world-class doubles team of Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler, who have been playing together internationally again since this year!
Morale in the red-white-red squad is likely already at a fever pitch following the thrilling 3-2 away victory against Japan in February. Back then, Rodionov and Neumayer proved to be the big match winners, showing nerves of steel in the decisive singles matches. Belgium arrives on the back of a commanding victory over Bulgaria.
For the “World Cup of Tennis,” the soccer field will be transformed into a pop-up stadium!

The matches will take place at the Vienna Athletiksport Club (WAC), nestled in a green setting near the Prater. Founded in 1896, the WAC is one of the country’s oldest sports clubs. And now, for the very first time in its long history, it’s hosting the Davis Cup!
The matches will be played on clay, as is traditional. This should give our guys the maximum home-court advantage and promises an unbeatable late-summer atmosphere. What could be better than watching top-level tennis outdoors on a warm summer day with a cold drink in hand?
