Are you out and about in the 6th district and looking for the perfect cocktail to treat your taste buds? No problem! From exclusive rooftop bars to trendy, edgy spots, Mariahilf has everything your heart desires. We’ll show you the places you absolutely can’t miss on your next stroll through the “Sixth”!
Barfly’s Club

A visit to Barfly’s Club is a journey back in time to the American 1920s. The bar exudes the charm of the Prohibition era (which hardly anyone adheres to here) in a Great Gatsby style. Green marble, dark walnut wood, and velvet sofas define the atmosphere and create a dark, intimate, and elegant ambiance. Classic jazz usually plays in the background, perfectly rounding out the atmosphere in this venue. The cocktail menu isn’t a small booklet, but more like a book! There are around 500 cocktails to choose from—everything from forgotten classics to modern original creations can be found here.
Miranda Bar

The Miranda Bar is essentially the colorful, modern answer to the classic Viennese bar scene. While many bars rely on dark wood and heavy velvet, the Miranda Bar is bright, pastel-colored, extremely stylish, and in tune with the spirit of the times. The interior features soft pink and pastel tones, combined with a massive green granite bar. The standards of craftsmanship at the Miranda Bar are extremely high: many homemade syrups, infusions, and unusual ingredients are used. The most famous cocktail is likely the Himberit —an elegant blend of vodka, rosé vermouth, raspberry syrup, lemon, and a splash of soda. Cheers!
Monami Bar

The Monami Bar in Vienna isn’t a classic cocktail bar, but it’s definitely worth a visit if you want to enjoy a good drink in Mariahilf. The concept here changes throughout the day and week: a café by day turns into a bar in the evening and even a small club on the weekends. The decor is vintage-style, featuring many cozy armchairs and sofas from the Wilhelminian era, combined with a veritable jungle of plants—it doesn’t get much cozier than this. The menu offers a good selection of classic cocktails at fair prices. It’s not a stuffy high-end cocktail bar, but a place where the craftsmanship is solid, yet the focus is on socializing.
THE LOFT

If you’re looking for a spectacular view in the 6th district, you can’t miss Mariatrink. The rooftop bar at the Hotel Jaz in the City offers a fantastic panoramic view over the rooftops from Mariahilf all the way to St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The design is modern and urban, fitting the venue’s musical concept. Set to laid-back beats, you can enjoy excellent cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere that’s less stuffy than at many other rooftop spots. A true hotspot for watching the sunset over the Sixth District.
Tanzcafé Jenseits

The Tanzcafé Jenseits is more than just a bar in the 6th district; it’s a Viennese curiosity that you simply must experience at least once. The Jenseits isn’t a classic cocktail bar—it’s less about molecular mixology and more about classics and atmosphere. The interior is a journey through time: dark red brocade on the walls, golden mirrors, red velvet sofas, and a dance floor with a disco ball give this place a touch of the wicked. The vibe resembles a cinematic backdrop, and the drinks are honest cocktail classics like the Negroni, Old Fashioned, or Whiskey Sour. A place you absolutely must visit!
The Luster Bar

Known for its impressive installation of countless lamps and a massive chandelier, the bar skillfully blends industrial chic with a cozy vibe. The atmosphere is laid-back, while the drinks are top-notch. On weekends, DJ beats add extra energy. An absolute must-try is the Chartreuse Swizzle: this cocktail, served over crushed ice, is a perfect blend of intense green Chartreuse, pineapple juice, and lime juice.
