Vienna Ice Dream

We start 2026 in a sporty way with the Vienna Ice Dream. On two levels and a whole 10,000 square meters, you can move more or less elegantly on skates between the Hofburg and City Hall and enjoy the fantastic scenery. Vienna Opera Ball

The Vienna Opera Ball is legendary and should of course not be missed in the cultural year 2026. This is where the who’s who of Austrian high society and international stars meet . Traditionally, you waltz here and spin in circles to three-four time. If the hefty price of €410 for attending in person is too expensive for you, you can also get hold of spectator tickets. These start at €100 for standing room. On the day of the event, there is also free standing room in the hall or you can follow the spectacle via livestream on one of the screens in the State Opera outside the ballroom.

Eurovision Song Contest

In May, the 70th Eurovision Song Contest will finally take place in the Wiener Stadthalle. Hosting the ESC is undoubtedly the biggest highlight of this Viennese cultural year 2026. Who will be competing for Austria is still to be decided in February. There will be various events around the ESC to shorten the time until then and give you the opportunity to see the show in its entirety in advance if you want to be there live but can’t get tickets for the final.
Danube Island Festival

The open-air music festival on the Danube Island is taking place again this year and invites you to party for three days free of charge. The line-up is not yet known, but you can be sure that this time you will be offered a mix of all kinds of genres. In addition to music, you can expect all kinds of culinary delights and a colorful children’s program.
Vienna Kaiser Wiesn

In September, Austria’s largest traditional and Oktoberfest festival returns. This year, three festival tents, live music and, of course, lots of beer await you in the Prater. This year, the Dirndlrockers, the Lauser and the Bengels Reloaded, among others, will be providing some really hearty fun. The Kaiser Wiesn is being held for the 5th time this year under the motto “Life is a festival” and you should celebrate accordingly. In addition to the beer tent fun , you can of course also enjoy the rides on the Prater.
Christmas markets and New Year’s Eve trail

The 2026 cultural year in Vienna then comes to an end with a view to the holidays. As always, numerous Christmas markets and winter festivals take place from the beginning of November, putting you in a festive mood and spoiling you with mulled wine and delicacies. The perfect way to end the year is with the New Year’s Eve Trail, where, as always, you can party for free at various locations in the city to live music and DJ sets from a wide range of genres and welcome in the new cultural year.
