Getting to major events often means tedious crowding in overcrowded cars, where the anticipation quickly falls by the wayside. But this week, a regular tram route is transforming into an ESC Party Tram, taking you directly and without detours to the European music highlight—the ESC. Or maybe you’re just in the mood for a great atmosphere and a unique dance experience. You hop on in the city center and are instantly in party mode as the city passes you by outside.
Get on the guest list with your ticket
The special trip on Line 49 takes you straight to the venue on the day of the second Eurovision Song Contest semifinal, as well as to the grand finale. The musical journey kicks off right on the Ring at the Volkstheater, from where it goes non-stop to Urban-Loritz-Platz. You’ll skip the annoying stops and be right in front of the Wiener Stadthalle in just a few minutes.
The best part: You’re automatically on the guest list as soon as you have a valid Wiener Linien public transit ticket in your pocket. If you already have a ticket for the live show, this ESC ticket serves as your transit pass —valid three hours before through five hours after the event, and on May 16, even for the entire day. The special tram will be making its rounds through Vienna on May 14 and 16 from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM each day.

Open jam session instead of a classic tram ride

If you prefer to party on solid ground, stop by the Sound Lounge at Karlsplatz. There, a decommissioned tram will be quickly converted into an open jam session, taking place on May 11 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. On May 13 and 15 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the lounge will then turn into a stage where you can belt out the biggest hits in Song Contest history together with other fans.
Once the winners are crowned and the cameras go off, you don’t have to worry about getting home at night. To ensure everyone gets through the city smoothly, Wiener Linien has significantly increased service frequency. On the Saturday of the final, the U2 and U6 will run every 5 minutes until around 2:00 a.m., while the U1, U3, and U4 will reliably take you home at a brisk 7.5-minute interval until 2:30 a.m.
In addition, trams 6, 18, and 49 will be running for you during the dress rehearsal on Friday and the final on Saturday until 2:00 a.m. This way, the party night ends just as relaxed as it began on the tram.
