Coffee house culture is actually very important in Vienna: sitting there for hours reading the newspaper or chatting with friends and enjoying a Melange is the idea of a perfect café visit. In addition to the classic coffee houses, modern or more unusual concepts have also found their way into Vienna over the years, such as the specialty café Gota or the numerous book cafés. The Fenster Café goes one step further, doing away with the idea of sitting together altogether. And yet, or perhaps because of this, it knows how to win people over.
Fenster Café: Focus on the essentials

Fenster Café cannot score points with cozy interior design, because it doesn’t have any. Instead, it places great emphasis on the actual product: the coffee. And it’s really good! The beans come from all over the world, but they are roasted personally by owner Saschko Iamkovyi. He founded this unusual café in Griechengasse in 2017 and has been successful with his concept. He also likes to experiment and is always trying out new bean varieties and flavors so that he doesn’t get stuck in a rut. In addition to coffee to go, you can also purchase beans at Fenster Café.
Small café, large selection

Saschko believes that coffee in a coffee house doesn’t necessarily have to be good, as people go there primarily for the atmosphere. This is different at Fenster Café, which is why the focus is on the drinks. But even though there are no seats here, the small window in the narrow cobblestone alley exudes a charm all its own. You’ll find the menu on the large signs to the left and right, and the name of the café is emblazoned in neon letters above the opening.
The coffee selection itself is also impressive. From espresso to flat white to Viennese melange, you can try your way through different preparations and varieties. You can choose between regular cow’s milk, lactose-free milk, or a plant-based alternative. But the highlight is definitely the Cornettoccino in an ice cream cone. Your cappuccino is served in a cornetto waffle coated with chocolate on the inside. This ensures that the coffee doesn’t drip out of the cone. If you’re in the mood for a different kind of coffee-to-go experience, you should definitely stop by the Fenster Café.
