Quick trip from the city
Getting there is incredibly easy. By car, drive from Vienna on the A2 South Highway to the Seebenstein exit—you’ll be there in just under 45 minutes. Traveling by public transit is even more relaxing: From Wiener Neustadt Central Station, the regional train takes you directly to Seebenstein Station in about 20 minutes, and from there, it’s just a few steps to the heart of the countryside.
Hiking in the Nature Discovery Park
The nature park itself is a paradise for families, those seeking peace and quiet, and hiking enthusiasts. A beautiful, approximately 3.5-kilometer-long loop trail takes you through idyllic mixed forests, past shady spots, and the mysterious Templerhöhle cave. If you’re traveling with children, you’ll find a great Robinson Crusoe-themed playground in the adventure park where they can let off steam. For the more ambitious , the hike can be extended to the striking Türkensturz ruins, which are spectacularly perched atop a steep limestone cliff.
The highlight: Seebenstein Castle
High above the town stands the majestic Seebenstein Castle. This proud 12th-century fortress is a true gem of medieval defensive architecture. Since it is now privately owned, exploring its historic interior is an exclusive experience.
From Holy Saturday through October 26, the castle opens its doors on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for exciting guided tours. For just a few euros, you can immerse yourself in the world of ancient knights and enjoy a fantastic view of the rolling hills of the Bucklige Welt.
