A leisurely stroll along the blue Danube is lovely, but sometimes the weekend just calls for more action. If you’re looking for pure adrenaline, you don’t have to head to the mountains— this extreme adventure awaits right at the U2 station. At Spider Rock XL on the Danube Marina, a massive 40-meter-high steel tower soars into the sky, combining two exhilarating flying experiences in one.
Thrills Above the Rooftops of Vienna
If you’re up for the challenge, you can clip into a harness there and ride the 380-meter-long double Flying Fox. You’ll glide at high speed alongside another person directly over the harbor basin and the subway tracks. You’ll float safely along the thick steel cable while the warm breeze rushes past your ears.
If the zipline seems too tame for you, you can opt for the Powerfan jump instead. This high-tech device, originally developed for British paratroopers, simulates a controlled freefall from a height of 36 meters.
The Fast Way Down

A single ticket costs €34, and you don’t have to decide until you’re there whether you’ll choose the flight or the drop. If you’re traveling with friends, the 5-ride ticket for €136 is also a great deal , since the fifth ride is completely free. Cameras and cell phones are allowed on board during this high-speed adventure only if they are firmly and securely attached to your body so that nothing can fall into the water.
The facility is open from early June through mid-October and offers plenty of time slots for your jump on the weekends. Meanwhile, you can conveniently lock away your other valuables in the on-site lockers. Since the attraction takes place outdoors, operations are suspended during severe thunderstorms—your safety at the facility is always the top priority.
