When your stomach growls while the juiciest steak is sizzling on the screen, it’s often quite a torture. This year, a completely new concept in our city solves exactly this problem.
Instead of fobbing you off with lukewarm popcorn, “Tasting Movies” serves you exactly what the characters in the movie are eating at that moment.
How Cine-Dining works in practice
Founder Clemens Polszter and his team are bringing the first cine-dining experience to Austria. The idea is simple, but putting it into practice is quite a challenge for the kitchen: While you watch the movie, a multi-course meal is served to you at your seat.
The key is precise timing. The food arrives at your table exactly when the scene unfolds on the screen.
To kick things off, the animated hit “Ratatouille” is currently playing—a film that already whets the appetite for French cuisine. So you’re not just spectators; you’re essentially eating along with the characters, scene by scene. More films are planned for the future, but they haven’t been announced yet.

Vienna’s oldest hotel instead of a multiplex

The event does not take place in a regular movie theater, but at the Hotel Stefanie in the 2nd district. The building at Taborstraße 12 is Vienna’s oldest hotel and has been welcoming guests since 1600.
There, the event team, in cooperation with hotel owner Alexander Schick, uses the elegant ballroom to create a fantastic atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of a traditional movie theater.
For 119 euros per person, you get the movie and the complete menu, tailored to the plot. Drinks are not included in the price and can be ordered to complement the meal that evening.
Information on dinner dates

The premiere on April 24, 2026, was a huge success, so you’ll want to act fast for the remaining dates. Additional evenings are planned for May 9 and 14, as well as June 13 and 21, 2026.
Very important for your planning: On these days, the event always starts promptly at 6:30 p.m.
