Are you in the mood for live music next weekend without spending a dime? A massive stage will be set up right in the heart of the city on Saturday, May 9. Instead of the usual crowds of tourists , you’ll find thumping beats, local pop stars, and a full-blown rave.
The occasion for this big party is Europe Day on May 9. From 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. , the European Commission Representation in Austria is hosting the “Europe Day Festival” right on Vienna’s Stephansplatz. The event celebrates the 1950 Schuman Declaration, but the program is totally modern. Admission is completely free for all visitors. You can just drop by and join in the fun.
Austro-pop and exciting talks

The musical lineup brings real quality to the stage. Look forward to live shows by Julian Le Play, AVEC, and Endless Wellness, who will fill the square with powerful Austro-pop and indie sounds. Between the gigs, there will also be exciting content: high-profile guests such as Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and Mayor Michael Ludwig will participate in short interviews about the future of our continent .

A rave in the First District

As early evening sets in, the bass will be cranked up. Starting at 6:00 PM, the big EU rave kicks off, transforming the historic cobblestones into a real urban dance floor. Local star Anna Ullrich and the Voyage Voyage DJ Team will be behind the turntables. Under the motto “united in diversity, connected through dance,” they’ll be pumping driving electronic beats into the crowd until 8:00 PM.
There’s plenty going on offstage as well. As is customary, the European Commission typically releases specific details about the food and drink stands and children’s activities just a few days before the event, but a solid festival setup is definitely on the agenda. The afternoon is structured so that both families and club-goers will get their money’s worth. Grab your friends and make the most of this Saturday for a great cultural experience in the First District.
