Vienna’s gyms might get a little less crowded this summer. That’s because there are spots all over the city where you can get a professional-level workout without paying a membership fee. If you know where these spots are, you’ll save money and still get to train with world record holders or on historic fields.
Free tennis courts in Vienna

There’s a real highlight for racquet sports enthusiasts over by the Danube. At Donaupark, you can work up a sweat on the tennis courts for free and without a reservation. Just grab one of the public tennis courts on the spot and get started. All you need are rackets and balls, which you bring with you.
After an intense match, the green park setting offers the perfect atmosphere. You can relax comfortably under the trees and wind down your day of training.
Relaxing Yoga at the Otto Wagner Areal

A particularly peaceful outdoor oasis awaits you at Baumgartner Höhe 1. Weekly yoga sessions will begin on June 15, 2026, in the historic Otto Wagner complex. You’ll meet every Monday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on the lawn near Pavilion 12. The program is part of “Bewegt im Park,” so professional instructors lead the sessions. All you need to bring is your own yoga mat and water . Afterward, you can stay and visit the exhibitions in Pavilion 9 or enjoy the regular live music events.
Urban Cross-Golf Course in Brigittenau

Mini-golf right in the middle of the city, without an expensive club membership? The project by @tracingspaces at Nordwestbahnstraße 16 makes exactly that possible. The creative “W(h)ole in One” cross-golf course playfully demonstrates the ecological potential of brownfield sites.
You can swing your rackets here until the end of August. It’s open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It’s completely free.
