The local wine scene is evolving rapidly, and anyone who wants to taste the most exciting wines off the beaten path often has to search long and hard. We ourselves often face the challenge of finding a curated selection of good low-intervention wines to taste all at once. That’s why we know: On Saturday, November 7, 2026, there will be a clear highlight for this.
This weekend, the Kamptal Natural Wine Days are taking place in Straß im Straßertale. Thirty-five winemakers from all eight wine regions of the state will gather there. The tasting begins at 1:00 p.m. and will take place entirely indoors at two weather-protected venues: Weinkontraste and Kaiser’s Hof.
Since both venues are only a five-minute walk apart, you can easily hop between the booths with your Zalto glass in hand. Speaking of glasses: Be sure to bring 20 euros in cash for the glass deposit. If needed, you’ll find an ATM a three-minute walk from Kaiser’s Hof at the Raiffeisenbank.

Michelin-starred dining and live jazz among the vines
In addition to the wines, this event also highlights authentic culinary craftsmanship. In an exclusive masterclass, top chefs from the Wachau region—Thomas Dorfer and Werner Punz—will demonstrate why natural wines have become an indispensable part of today’s Michelin-starred gastronomy. Between tastings, you can also enjoy regional delicacies from local businesses.
Meanwhile, a live jazz trio will provide the perfect musical backdrop for the tasting. Afterward, the event transitions seamlessly into an after-show party with the Jazzachterl DJs at the restaurant. For anyone eager to learn more, the guided tour of the Cooperage Museum beforehand is highly recommended to gain an understanding of the craftsmanship behind the barrels.
By the way, getting there is stress-free via public transit, as a direct shuttle service is available from the Hadersdorf am Kamp train station. Alternatively, you can book the special bus trip from Vienna, which even includes a cellar tour at the Jurtschitsch Winery. Day tickets start at 35 euros when purchased in advance, and since Friday and Sunday are already sold out, you should act fast to secure tickets for this Saturday.
