Those who want to head to the Mediterranean in the summer often spend hours at airports with tedious layovers. Starting in June 2026, that will change for everyone who has a certain island on their vacation list. In just a 90-minute flight from Schwechat, a direct flight from Vienna takes you to the sunny coast of a French island reminiscent of the Caribbean.
Two cities in direct focus

The regional airline Air Corsica is setting its sights on Vienna and connecting the island in two ways. First up is the historic port city of Ajaccio on the southwest coast: From June 7 through October 4, 2026, a flight will depart every Sunday. Those who prefer to explore the northeast in Bastia will only have to wait one week longer. From June 14 to September 30, 2026, this route will operate—twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The thing about luggage

While many budget airlines nowadays charge extra even for small bags, this airline takes a customer-friendly approach. Ticket prices start at 249 euros for a round-trip flight. What makes this special: Both carry-on luggage and one large checked bag are already fully included in the base fare. So you don’t have to worry about hidden fees at the gate once you’ve packed your swimsuit.
Perfect for a spontaneous week-long getaway

With flights on Sundays and Wednesdays, you can plan your days off flexibly. Whether you need just a long weekend or exactly one week off, you can make the trip without losing much vacation time. The short flight means you can practically step right off the office floor and onto the plane, and a little while later, you’ll be enjoying your first cold drink at the harbor. Flights are now available for booking on the airline’s website.
