Vienna is considered a stronghold of classical music and is also home to the world’s most famous New Year’s Concert. But our city can also strike a completely different note, letting you party to EDM at the Isle of Summer or to Goa at the Paradise Winter Festival. Those who like it harder should visit the Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, about an hour from Vienna. Since 2005, the biggest stars of the genres have been performing here regularly.

This year’s Nova Rock line-up is impressive across the board. Over a total of four festival days, artists big and small from all over the world will play for you on three stages. This year’s headliners are Volbeat on Thursday, The Cure on Friday, Iron Maiden on Saturday, and Bring Me The Horizon on Sunday. Also on the bill are the Sex Pistols, Three Days Grace, Trivium, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Annisokay, Papa Roach, Hollywood Undead, Ice Nine Kills, The Offspring, and many, many more! So you can look forward to a great line-up for headbanging and moshing.
If partying to live music during the day isn’t enough for you, you can continue in the party zone until 4 a.m. Or you can choose your favorite song in the Shotbox and dance to your guilty pleasures. If you’re bored of normal dancing, head to the roller disco, where you can skate to your favorite music. There’s even more metal and rock in the rock tent, glow sticks included, and afterwards you can enjoy cocktails and beats at Casa Barcadi.

Nova Rock takes place this year from Thursday, June 11 to Sunday, June 14. Day tickets are available from €129.99; for the full four days, you pay €279.99. If you want to sleep on site, the festival pass including camping costs €419.99. The all-round VIP experience with your own camping and access to exclusive grandstands is available for €449.99.
However, Nova Rock is easily accessible from Vienna in an hour by train or car, so overnight accommodation is not essential. If you don’t have a tent but still consider camping an indispensable part of the festival experience, you can also book a tent hotel for €129. Those who value a high level of comfort can book a lodge or guest house.

If you’ve had enough of the music, you can burn off some energy playing beer pong or get creative. Design your own T-shirt with airbrushing and screen printing and take home a cool, homemade festival souvenir. Or get your favorite artist’s autograph in the autograph tent next to the Blue Stage.
To cool off in between, simply take the bathing shuttle to Lake Neusiedl and get a discounted day ticket for €6 to the Podobeach lido in Podersdorf am See. If the weather is not cooperating, you can take a detour to the St. Martins Therme instead, where you will receive a 10% discount on admission.
