One of Vienna’s wettest summer traditions is set to take place tomorrow. On July 3 and 4, a well-known square in Vienna’s 7th district will be transformed into a giant open-air water slide. You can slide down on inflatable flamingos, unicorns, or crocodiles, since Ulrich and Erich’s team is organizing the event.
Report Card Giveaway and Whimsical Costumes on Friday
The event kicks off on Friday at 10:00 a.m. with a program for kids. Since school vacation begins that same day, some students will even receive a report card surprise on site—provided they show their grades. Starting at 6:00 p.m., the Style Slide Cup will follow, with a focus on creative costumes.
If you want to participate, you can sign up in advance or register on-site until 5:45 p.m. Prizes include breakfast for two or 10 Krügerl and 5 Stelzen at the Schweizerhaus. So it’s worth packing a colorful outfit, although spontaneous attempts at sliding without a costume are, of course, also allowed.

Water fight and ping-pong bingo on Saturday
On Saturday, the fun continues at 11:00 a.m., before all-out chaos breaks out in the late afternoon. At 5:00 p.m. sharp, 30,000 water balloons will fly through the air during a massive water fight, with everyone competing against everyone else. Although there will be a lot of trash left behind afterward, every full cup with leftover water earns you a free raffle ticket.
Then, at 6:00 p.m. sharp, exactly 5,000 ping-pong balls will be launched down the slide for the big lottery race. Each ticket normally costs €2, unless you’ve earned a free ticket by collecting trash. There are 10 grand prizes to be won, so in the end, probably no one will go home empty-handed.
Admission to this summer spectacle is completely free. However, you should definitely bring 10 euros in cash as a deposit for the sliding tires. Sliding takes place in all weather conditions, except when a thunderstorm rolls in and the event is briefly paused.
