Anyone living or studying in Vienna’s University District no longer has to travel far for their plant-based weekly shopping. A new local grocery store has now opened its doors in the 9th district. The location right next to the Old General Hospital is strategically well-chosen, as many people pass through here every day. Previously, shoppers often had to visit multiple stores, but that is changing now. This is the second location of an established concept, with its first store located on Taborstraße. Now, Vegan Wolf is moving to Garnisongasse 18 to ensure a steady supply in the neighborhood. The product range goes far beyond mere substitutes, and the plan is to eventually offer fresh vegetables, bread, and pastries on a regular basis.
Everything you need for daily life in one place

Those looking for sweets will find vegan ice cream, spreads, as well as plant-based whipped cream and yogurt. There are also everyday household items like toilet paper, laundry detergent, and even meat-free dog food. This means you can do all your shopping stress-free at a single location, provided you want to avoid animal products.
A perfect combination with new dining options

A practical bonus is the immediate neighborhood, as the market is right next to the equally new Bistronarrisch. So you can combine your weekly shopping with a cozy coffee or snack instead of having to look elsewhere. Although the soft opening phase is still underway, the doors are already open five days a week.
Opening hours vary depending on the day of the week, so you should check the schedule before heading out. On Thursdays and Fridays, for example, it’s open until 7 p.m., whereas on Saturdays the store closes as early as 3 p.m. Ultimately, the entire neighborhood benefits from this sustainable addition, making grocery shopping in the Ninth District a lot easier.
