Do you also get tired of waiting endlessly for the subway? There must be a better way to use the time until the next U1 arrives than standing around on the platform. That’s what Wiener Linien thought, too, and is taking the most unusual route of all: the Volktheater station is temporarily becoming a club!
Vienna continues to grow in popularity as the cultural offerings of the music metropolis continue to grow. Party to electronic beats at night where you wait for the train during the day and experience the station like never before. We tell you what you need to know about the Vienna Station Rave and how you can get tickets.
How did the Vienna Station Rave come about?
Urban music and public transport – isn’t that a perfect match? That was the starting point for this unusual idea. The Vienna Stations Rave celebrated its debut last year – and was a huge success. The idea of partying deep underground and experiencing a subway station from a completely different perspective was a magical attraction for the Viennese. So it’s no wonder that the organizers wanted to do it again. In cooperation with the Donnerkanzel collective, the Volkstheater U3 station will be transformed into a temporary rave spot. The entrance is at the Volkstheater ring.
Two subway carriages will be transformed for the event: One will become a stage where the various DJs will play, the other will serve as a bar with drinks for the revelers. Wiener Linien is outdoing itself with this format. With their WL x event series, they bring culture and innovation to unusual places, such as the underground rave. Celebrate in the heart of Vienna!
When is the rave and what is the line-up?
The Vienna Stations Rave takes place on the night of July 3 (Thursday) to 4 (Friday). Of course, the party only starts when Wiener Linien is no longer on the road. This is the case from 1:00 a.m., when the first DJ inaugurates the subway station with his set. The event ends at 4:00 a.m. so that regular service can start again on time. So you can take the train straight home after the rave – getting home has never been so easy.
Invierno, ATMN b2b Reumann and Bernd Ammann will be there. They are well-known DJs in the Viennese techno and electro scene and stand for energetic, varied sets ranging from tech house to hard techno. They regularly play at local events and can be heard at collective parties.
How do I get tickets?
The first round of pre-sales started on June 18 and sold out within minutes. A week later, from June 25 at 5:oo pm, the second round of sales will take place. You can easily purchase tickets via Ö-Ticket. It pays to be quick: the number of visitors is limited to a maximum of 440 people. This is due to safety and organizational reasons.
But even if the Vienna Station Rave sells out early, you can still get tickets at the box office at short notice as soon as seats become available during the evening. Tickets cost 12 euros. It’s also worth checking out Wiener Linien on Instagram or Tiktok, as tickets will be raffled off there.
