Right in the heart of Vienna’s 16th district, the largest open-air festival on the Viennese mainland will take place from September 11 to 13, 2026. When around 35,000 guests arrive for the Ottakringer Kirtag 2026, Ottakringer Straße 200 will be transformed into a giant fairground for three days. The old town center will be completely closed off to create enough space for 12 rides and countless food stalls.
Food and the Direct Beer Line

Rumor has it that there’s a direct line to the Ottakringer Brewery, which is why the freshly tapped beer never runs out here. In addition, 24 food stands line up side by side, serving everything from the classic Käsekrainer to crispy grilled chicken. Visitors can also gather comfortably over a glass of wine, as many local restaurateurs set up their Heurigen stands.
Opening and the musical lineup
Mayor Michael Ludwig will perform the ceremonial first tap of the beer on Friday at 3:00 p.m. Afterward, the band Wiener Wahnsinn will really get the crowd going starting at 7:30 p.m. Throughout the three days, no fewer than 8 live bands will provide nonstop entertainment on the main stage.

From ’90s parties to Viennese folk songs

On Saturday, a big Stereo Party is on the program starting at 7:30 p.m., featuring a loud celebration of the ’90s and ’00s. Before that, the French Quarter Gentlemen and the country-rock band Marc Miner & Last Heroes will be performing starting at 3:30 p.m. So if you’re into real nostalgia, you’re in for a treat that day.
Sunday gets off to a leisurely start at 11:00 a.m. with the 16er Buam, who play classic Viennese folk songs for the morning beer gathering. Although parking in the area is limited, the organizers recommend taking the U3 subway line. From the Ottakring station, it’s just a short 10-minute walk to the festival grounds.
