Spring has finally arrived in Vienna! It brings not only longer days and the Easter holidays, but also a sea of colorful flowers. Vienna’s cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom in the most beautiful shades of white and light pink, declaring war on the gray winter. Just as in Japan, admiring the cherry blossoms—known as hanami—is a real event in its own right in Vienna: From late March to mid-April, here are the seven best places in Vienna to celebrate spring in a sea of pink.
Setagaya Park

The well-known Setagaya Park is no longer an insider tip: Since 1992, this park has symbolized the partnership between Vienna and the Setagaya district in Tokyo. Every spring, the most beautiful Japanese cherry blossom trees bloom here. Stroll along winding paths beneath the pink blossoms and admire even more flowering plants in this peaceful park.
Cherry Grove on the Danube Island
The Danube Island takes on a very special atmosphere in the spring: right by the water, the cherry trees bloom in their most beautiful hues. A total of 150 trees line both sides of the paved path near the Jedleseer Bridge, creating a stunning sight. Don’t miss the annual Kirschhainfest, which takes place here on April 22 this year and celebrates its 25th anniversary.
City Park

It is the oldest and most famous park in Vienna: the Stadtpark. In April, almost everything blooms here, and you’ll find a true botanical paradise. Some of the cherry trees in the park have been here for decades and make for a wonderful stroll, especially near the Hilton and the Stubenbrücke. The perfect place to unwind!
Mexikoplatz

The cherry blossoms at Mexikoplatz in the 2nd district offer you a sea of pink trees in the spring . The forecourt of the Franz-von-Assisi Church is the perfect photo spot and is already well-known on Instagram. At the same time, this location is particularly ideal for anyone looking to enjoy the splendor of cherry blossoms without traveling far.
Donaupark

Donaupark is a dreamlike sight in every season. But in spring , the expansive green spaces transform into a pink fairy-tale landscape: cherry blossoms make the park the perfect spot for a stroll or a picnic. Enjoy the view from the hills in the park to admire the cherry trees around the Danube Tower from a bird’s-eye perspective.
Oberlaa Spa Park

In the Oberlaa Spa Park, you’ll find all kinds of different gardens, and best of all: this includes the Japanese Takasaki Garden! Here, cherry trees bloom around a beautiful pond in the spring. If you want to explore further afterward, the spa park offers additional themed green spaces for every taste.
Cherry Blossom Park

The name gives away its purpose—there are plenty of pink dreams to discover in the Cherry Blossom Park. Created under the project name “Cherry Blossom” in recent years, this park was designed to provide green spaces for the 30,000-square-meter residential neighborhood. The goal was achieved, and today you’ll find one of Vienna’s most beautiful cherry blossom spots here.
Hofmühlgasse

In the heart of Mariahilf, a sea of cherry blossoms awaits you in spring. Along Hofmühlgasse , several cherry trees line the street, delighting visitors with their blossoms in the spring. If you’re looking for cherry blossoms amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, this is exactly the right spot for you. The trees here are among the first to bloom.
