Spring has finally arrived in Vienna! Not only does it bring better weather and longer days. Vienna’s cherry blossoms are also starting to sprout in the most beautiful shades of light pink and are declaring war on the gray winter. As in Japan, marveling at the cherry trees in Vienna is a real event in itself: from the end of March to mid-April, here are the seven best places in Vienna to celebrate spring in pink and red dreams.
1st Setagaya Park
The famous Setagaya Park is no longer an insider tip: since 1992, this park has represented Vienna’s partnership with the Setagaya district of Tokyo. Every spring, the most beautiful Japanese cherry blossom trees bloom here. Wander along winding paths among the pink blossoms and admire even more flowering plants in this tranquil park.
📍Hohe Warte 8, 1190 Vienna
2nd cherry grove on the Danube Island
The Danube Island takes on a very special flair in spring: the cherry trees bloom in their most beautiful shades right by the water. A total of 150 trees stand to the left and right of the asphalt path by the Jedleseer Bridge and are impressive to look at. Don’t miss the annual cherry grove festival, which takes place here on April 24, 2025.
📍Nußdorf, 1210 Vienna
3rd city park
It is the oldest and most famous park in Vienna: the Stadtpark. In April, almost everything blooms here and you will find a true paradise of plants. Some of the cherry trees in the park have been here for decades and make for a wonderful walk, especially near the Hilton and Stubenbrücke. The perfect place to find peace and quiet!
📍Parkring 1, 1010 Vienna
4th Mexikoplatz
The cherry blossoms on Mexikoplatz in the 2nd district offer you a pink sea of trees in spring. The square in front of the Franz von Assis Church is the perfect photo spot and is already well-known on Instagram. At the same time, this location is particularly suitable for anyone looking for cherry blossom splendor without having to travel far.
📍Mexikoplatz, 1020 Vienna
5th Danube Park
The Donaupark is a beautiful sight at any time of year. But in spring, the extensive green spaces are transformed into a pink fairytale landscape: cherry blossoms make the park the perfect place for a walk or a picnic. Enjoy the view from the hills in the park to admire the cherry trees around the Danube Tower from a bird’s eye view.
📍Danube Park, 1220 Vienna
6th Kurpark Oberlaa
You’ll find all kinds of different gardens in Kurpark Oberlaa, and the best thing is that they include the Japanese takasaki garden! Here, the cherry trees bloom around a beautiful pond in spring. If you want to look around some more after that, the Kurpark offers further themed green spaces for every taste.
📍Laaer-Berg-Straße, 1100 Vienna
7th Cherry Blossom Park
The name reveals its purpose – there are plenty of pink dreams to discover in the cherry blossom park. Under the project name “Kirschblüte” (cherry blossom), this park was only created in recent years to create green spaces for the 30,000 square meter residential quarter. The goal was achieved and today you will find one of the most beautiful cherry blossom spots in Vienna here.
