Vienna kicks off the summer with a massive open-air cultural festival. Legendary music productions will be shown on a giant screen in front of City Hall for over two months. Since admission is completely free, it attracts locals and visitors alike, even though the festival doesn’t end until September 6, 2026.
This year, the big screen will feature a diverse program of opera, pop, and rock. On July 4, 2026, the festival will kick off with a historic concert film of Bruce Springsteen shot on 16-mm film. This will be followed, for example, by Beethoven’s opera *Fidelio* from the State Opera, as well as a performance by Austropop legend Rainhard Fendrich on July 8, 2026, as he celebrates his 45th anniversary on stage. There’s a different program every evening, so it’s worth checking the schedule in advance.
Open-air music films
Although the main screening on the giant screen doesn’t start until nightfall, the venue comes to life much earlier. Since the gates open daily at 11 a.m., it’s a wonderful place to spend your lunch break or the afternoon. Plus, side events like DJ sets and similar activities create a relaxed club atmosphere as you wind down the day.

A Culinary World Tour in the Heart of the City
In addition to the musical entertainment, the culinary experience takes center stage. Partner DO & CO is organizing a lineup that impresses with top-class cuisine from around the world.
