Anyone who wants to experience musical masterpieces typically thinks first of the magnificent halls in the city center. Starting September 19, 2026, however, lovers of fine music will be drawn to the countryside, as a vast recreational area becomes a stage for the arts. Spanning over 1,000 square kilometers of natural landscape, this very special concept is now in its fourth edition.
Four female musicians have made it their mission to bring high-quality cultural programming directly to the western part of Vienna. They perform at historic venues such as the Mauerbach Charterhouse and the Lainz Zoo, as well as locations in Pressbaum and Mödling. Furthermore, there is a strong emphasis on making women in the classical music world — especially female composers—much more visible.

Ultimately , this festival project is not just about enjoying art outdoors. The organizers are also committed to fair pay for all participants and support the Kulturbuddy program run by Caritas Vienna. Accessibility via public transportation also plays a major role in preserving the protected landscape.
The result is a well-conceived event that actively combines environmental and social responsibility, even though budgets in the cultural sector are often very tight. So buying a ticket here is doubly worthwhile for supporting the regional scene.

A musical treat for all generations

Although the event is deeply rooted in traditional classical music, it is specifically aimed at a younger audience. To that end, there is even an interactive family concert called “Wiesenklänge, ” which will take place on September 26 at 3:00 p.m. Prior to that, the entire event will be officially inaugurated with a ceremonial opening at the Kartause Mauerbach on September 19 at 4:30 p.m.
Before the season comes to a close in the recreational area, the “Hautnah” event on September 27 is highly recommended. While large concert halls often create a barrier, the music there comes within arm’s reach, allowing the audience to intensely experience every instrumental nuance. Finally, the official finale will take place on October 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wien Museum under the title “Stage of the Future.” So be sure to secure your tickets online quickly for the dates of your choice.
