About 50 minutes north of Vienna, a long agricultural history awaits you at Vinoversum in Poysdorf. Nestled in the heart of the Weinviertel region, this expansive outdoor site—complete with real vineyards —is all about the region’s winemaking tradition. As you stroll through the grounds, you’ll also learn about the evolution of winemaking techniques in a former Baroque civic hospital.
Finally, the adjacent Presshaus Museum provides concrete insights into the historical tools used by winemakers. It also offers detailed glimpses into the work processes of past generations.
History Brought to Life
The centerpiece of the facility is an interactive exhibition about the grape. Here, you’ll journey through the wine town’s past, allowing you to take a close look at 200 years of tavern history.
Since the site is also designed for families, children can let off steam on the specially designed grape-themed playground. Afterward, it’s worth taking a detour to the Grape Hall, where the journey from vine to juice is explained in detail.
As soon as the 1.5-hour guided tour ends, there’s a tasting at the neighboring wine market. Consequently, the excursion concludes with an authentic culinary experience.

A tractor ride through the vineyards
If you’d like to leave the grounds, your best bet is to hop on a historic fire department trailer. During this leisurely tour, a guide will take you past picturesque spots in the wine town.
Although these tours take place only on Sundays and holidays at 4:00 p.m., they include a wine tasting for €15 per person. If you’d rather explore on foot, you can take a walking tour through the cellar alleys.
A Peek Behind Heavy Wooden Doors
On these tours, a local guide opens the doors to the traditional wine cellars. However, advance registration is required, as groups tend to get too large otherwise.
