When your stomach is growling and you can’t decide between all the restaurants in Vienna during your lunch break, there’s now a new spot. A restaurant has opened in the Wien Mitte The Mall shopping center that serves up some hearty meals.
Especially when the first warm days of spring are still a ways off and your planned trip to the lake falls through, really good comfort food is exactly what you need indoors.
Hidden among the shops
Sukiyaki is a bit hidden. You’ll have to look closely in the shopping center, because the restaurant is located directly across from Action.
Anyone who happens to stumble upon this place suddenly finds themselves in front of a genuine all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. Inside, you’ll find a restaurant that has been transformed into a massive underwater world . Large LED screens are mounted on the walls, projecting animated images of the ocean directly onto the walls while you eat. The decor also evokes the sea.
From sushi to gyoza
When you grab your first plate, it’s best to start with a classic warming miso soup and a few crispy fried gyoza. Right next to it, a huge selection of sushi awaits you, freshly rolled and replenished continuously.
Those who prefer hot food will find what they’re looking for in the Asian noodles or rice dishes. Juicy duck, crispy sweet-and-sour chicken, and hearty teriyaki drumsticks are also sizzling away in the warming trays.
There’s no shortage of sides either. At the buffet, you’ll find plenty of freshly prepared vegetables, crisp salads, and of course golden-brown fried spring rolls, as well as other types of meat.
But be sure to leave a little room, because for dessert, in addition to fresh cake, there’s even a small gummy bear counter.
Such a sweet treat is just the right pick-me-up if you plan to stroll through Vienna afterward or are planning to explore the next lakeside destination soon.
Open kitchen and fixed prices
The biggest plus here is definitely the price. During the week, lunch costs just 11.90 euros. In the evening and on weekends, the set menu is 15.90 euros. For such a central location, that’s still an absolutely unbeatable deal, considering that prices around 25 euros are totally normal at similar restaurants.
Thanks to the open kitchen, you can also watch the team live as they prepare the rolls fresh and continuously restock the hot buffet.
