Since Lake Leopoldstein in Styria is fed primarily by underground springs, the water remains pleasantly cool even in the height of summer. From there, you’ll have a direct view of the steep lake embankment as you unpack a hearty snack on the shore.
A Relaxing Loop Trail for the Whole Family
For active hikers, the flat, 4.1-kilometer circular trail is a great choice. Since it takes just over an hour to walk, it’s perfect for a short Sunday outing. So if you’re out and about with little ones, the wide forest road— which is perfect for strollers —poses absolutely no obstacle.
Although some sections of the trail are a bit narrower at times, you can navigate them easily with regular footwear. As a result, you can take a completely relaxed stroll and enjoy the peaceful view of the shimmering water.

Free swimming spots and boat rentals

The public parking lot on Leopoldsteinerseestraße is currently still free to use. However, if it’s crowded, you can use the parking lot right next to the Seestüberl restaurant instead. There, a two-hour parking ticket costs a reasonable 1.00 euro, so you can enjoy the rest of your visit without any stress.
