Cutting-edge research usually takes place behind closed lab doors, as many processes are highly complex. But less than 30 minutes from the city limits, an interactive research space awaits. Here you can experience the latest science completely free of charge —you don’t have to pay a single cent for admission anyway. The center is officially called the VISTA Science Experience Center.
Just arriving at the campus in Klosterneuburg is impressive, as the building immediately catches the eye. While the striking structure captivates with its curved roof made of about 9,000 mirror tiles, it is the innovative interior that truly stands out. Large, bright rooms offer views of the surrounding buildings, creating a palpable sense of an open work atmosphere.
Hands-On Quantum Computing and Biology

The interactive permanent exhibition “Science in the Making” takes an in-depth look at the big questions of tomorrow. It then delves deeper into the subject matter, as the topics range from astrophysics to quantum computing. You’ll get to know real research groups as they work on solutions, and the activities are designed for all ages 9 and up.
If you want to delve even deeper, you can bookguided tours of the exhibits with trained docents . For example, you’ll meet real developmental biologists in their labs and explore the high-resolution world of microscopy. Science is presented as a living process, although hard facts certainly play a role as well.
By the way: If you want to stay up to date on exciting places, news, and activities in and around Vienna, feel free to follow us on Instagram or Facebook!
Workshops for the youngest researchers

Those who are still hungry for hands-on knowledge can also visit the interactive campus workshops for children. In the program called “Hello Science,” kids ages 7 to 10 get to step into the role of researchers themselves. There are also special dialogue formats that facilitate direct interaction with international scientists.
Finally, the in-house VISTA Coffee Lab invites you to take a relaxing break; a cozy gathering spot has been created just for this purpose. So you can linger in this modern space or discuss your own questions. The entire area is fully accessible, so nothing stands in the way of a trip on Saturday or Sunday.
