Just 45 minutes from Vienna, this apricot farm in the Weinviertel region is currently serving a lavish summer buffet among 23,000 fruit trees and 2,000 free-range chickens, including a tractor ride and a tour of the farm.

Some 23,000 apricot trees dot the flat landscape around Atzelsdorf in the vast Weinviertel region. Right in the heart of this region, Marillenhof Hackl serves its fresh fruit straight from the tree to your breakfast table. But that’s not all. We took a closer look at what they have to offer!

Fresh Stone Fruit and Active Circular Economy

Wolfgang Hackl has been running this farmsince 2009 and has specialized in 12 different varieties of apricots . As a result, the harvest season in the fields runs from mid-June to early August.

Anyone interested in high-quality produce can buy fresh fruit daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the small farm stand. There , a kilo of fruit in a 6-kilo crate costs a fair €5.50.

However, the family offers far more than just a traditional farm stand, as around 2,000 free-range laying hens roam throughout the expansive orchard. In this way, the farm actively contributes to a circular economy, which also greatly benefits the regional soil.

A lavish buffet under the large weeping willow

If you want to enjoy summer to the fullest, be sure to mark July 26 or August 9, 2026, on your calendar. That’s when the Marillenhof will host its popular apricot brunch, so you can dine leisurely under a large weeping willow on the farm.

The morning event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with a buffet of hot and cold dishes. Although the sweet stone fruits are clearly the main attraction, hearty delicacies are also served at the cozy table.

This includes products from the farm’s 25,000 turkeys, which are raised here according to the highest animal welfare standards. Adults pay €39 for the meal , including coffee and a beverage package.

For children ages 6 to 14, the meal costs €20. Since seating is very limited, you must make a reservation by phone at 02574/28628 before you arrive.

Farm tours and relaxing moments in nature

While you ’re relaxing on-site, you’re also welcome to bring your dogs along. After you’ve enjoyed a hearty meal, you can take an exciting farm tour, visit the animals, explore the jam factory, or go on a tractor tour.
