Normally, this palace is more of a wedding venue. It has a castle-like atmosphere with plenty of etiquette. But right now, beads of sweat are flying through the opulent halls. A new event series is transforming the historic premises into a pretty cool pop-up club for you to work out in.
Anyone looking to get in shape for spring is often on the hunt for cool alternatives to the traditional gym. That’s exactly where the Disco Workout at Palais Auersperg comes in. You can expect an intense HIIT workout that feels more like a night out at a club than a typical workout.
A live trainer on stage sets the pace and pushes you through the intervals. But the motivation you need comes mainly from the speakers.

To the beat of pulsing electronic music , you’ll complete your burpees, squats, and mountain climbers. The baroque ambiance creates an incredibly exciting contrast to the modern beats. The room is completely dark, and only a light show —just like in a club—transports you to the next party, while also being truly motivating—and all of this with a clear conscience.
When you’re lying on the floor completely exhausted after the session, staring at the stucco-decorated ceiling to catch your breath, it definitely has a certain style. Afterward, you can grab a seat at a café in Josefstadt to enjoy a well-deserved healthy bowl or a slice of cake.
You can find the exact dates for the sessions on the organizer’s official website. A regular single ticket costs around 19 euros. However, discounts are available in some cases.
If you don’t want to put yourself through the torture alone, it’s best to grab a workout partner. With the Friends Ticket for 30 euros, it’s much cheaper for two of you.
What many people don’t know before their first visit
The palace was built in the 18th century and, of course, wasn’t designed for intense HIIT training. The historic hardwood floor is a bit slippery in places.
It’s best to wear athletic shoes with really good traction or be prepared to build up a bit more core tension during the planks. But that’s something you can definitely overlook.
The energy in the room is incredibly contagious and pulls everyone out of even the deepest slump. And once the temperatures outside start climbing again, you can always move the workout back to the lake or head out for a long outdoor excursion.
The event at the palace runs through June. So grab your water bottle and let’s go!
